At the Cannes Yachting Festival, 6 to 11 September on the French Riviera, Aquila presented the popular Aquila 54 Yacht – the model’s first showcase outside of the US – and the Aquila 36 Sport.
Jason Chipp from Spectrum Marine attended the Cannes Show and was impressed with the growth in the power cat market there, as well as the response to the Aquila brand.
“In Europe, people are becoming more interested in longer range cruising, from country to country,” he explains. “Aquila power cats offer large volume in a good-size footprint. A 54-foot power cat, for example, delivers the space of an 80-foot boat and is the ideal size for a marina berth.”
The Aquila 36 Sport and 54 that were on display and attracted a lot of attention.
The Aquila 54 sports model was on show, presenting a new open flybridge arrangement, which would be appealing for cruising the islands of the Whitsundays, or just as comfortably entertaining on Sydney Harbour.
Also revealed in Cannes were the first images of the Aquila 42.
Combining the latest technology paired with many innovative features of the larger Aquila yacht models, the Aquila 42 comprises two comfortable cabins, two heads, and large deck spaces to enjoy.
The new Aquila 42 offers owners the choice of two, three and four double cabins. Of most significance is that this model has been purpose-built for foils, using the innovative hydro-glide technology for lift.
“Hydro-glide foil technology reduces the vessel’s wet area, meaning less drag and more stability, comfort and fuel efficiency – using around 30 percent less fuel than its competitors,” says Jason. “This will be popular in Australia where the option will pay for itself in fuel savings.
“We look forward to welcoming our first Aquila 42 to our shores in 2023, most likely in time for the Sydney International Boat Show.”
